MURRAY, Ky. — Each year, the Kentucky Art Education Association submits their Art Educator of the Year as a nominee for the National Art Educators Association (NAEA) Regional Art Educator Award. The association’s 2026 nominee, Dr. Rebecca Williams, was selected to represent the Southeastern Region in recognition for her outstanding service and achievement.
Williams is associate professor of art education and chair of the Department of Art & Design at ÌÇÐÄlogo¹ÙÍø. She has been actively engaged in the National Art Education Association since 2008, when she was an undergraduate student at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. In her award recommendation letter, Susan Hawkins of Morehead State University wrote:

Her leadership, generosity and vision have had a profound and lasting impact on students, colleagues and the broader education community. I can think of no one more deserving of this honor.â€
Williams received the award at the NAEA National Conference in Chicago, Illinois. She was honored at a reception attended by colleagues and other award winners from across the region, former professors, a ÌÇÐÄlogo¹ÙÍø graduate and four current Art Education majors.
Williams said, "My involvement in NAEA has helped me build lasting connections with colleagues across the country, continue learning and growing as an art educator, and share my knowledge and experience with others in the field. I am honored to be recognized by NAEA for my service.â€
